Krucial CEO to address World Ocean Summit

Krucial Co-founder and CEO Allan Cannon will speak at this year’s Economist Impact World Ocean Summit & Expo in Lisbon, Portugal, to an audience of leaders from the ocean community, from business to government and finance

Taking place from February 27 to March 1, the annual event brings together more than 1,500 attendees from over 100 countries to discuss ‘inspiring ocean solutions’ and the biggest challenges facing our oceans – climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution – as well as on marine industries

Allan will present at the Innovation Showcase session on Tuesday 28 February at 11:50am (WET) on the topic of ‘The impact of the ocean on aquaculture sustainability’. His talk will focus on how we can use space technology to better understand our oceans and take action to keep them healthy, enabling sustainable aquaculture across the world

Other speakers include Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy secretary-general of the UN and Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Group, Angelina Paolini Ellard, Deputy director-general of the World Trade Organisation, and Larsen Mettler, Managing Director of S2G Ventures.

Last year’s Summit, Allan spoke on the panel session ‘Transforming aquaculture with new technologies’, alongside industry and academic experts.

Krucial is also taking part in the World Ocean Summit 2023 exhibition. You can find us as Stand 10.

The global aquaculture industry wants to feed a growing global population sustainably but cannot do so if oceans are not in a healthy state. Space technology can enable the monitoring technology required to take data-informed action to improve our oceans and secure the future of the life it supports.

Krucial works with the aquaculture industry to digitize operations and give decision-makers a complete overview of offshore operations in areas traditionally cut off from connectivity. It does this by using a combined cellular and dual satellite backhaul, switching automatically between them depending on availability so that data downtime becomes a thing of the past.

As a result, operators can take quick, decisive action to protect their stock against environmental threats and maximize efficiency in their feeding and other processes.
